What is CATHSSETA

The Culture, Arts, Tourism, Hospitality, and Sport Sector Education and Training Authority (CATHSSETA) is one of the 21 SETAs created under the Skills Development Act (No 97 of 1998) in 2001. Initially known as the Tourism and Hospitality Education and Training Authority (THETA), it was renamed CATHSSETA on 1 April 2012. CATHSSETA’s mission is to promote skills development within its designated sub-sectors by providing grants for learning programs and overseeing education and training in accordance with the National Skills Development Strategy (NSDS).
